Protests for a fair contract by local Ontario Government civil servants will intensify as they begin secondary picketing at various locations throughout the city.
Secondary pickets are directed at agencies and operations that are contracted to receive payment for certain government services, like vehicle licensing bureaus.
“These operations are a source of revenue for the Progressive Conservative government which is currently wasting huge amounts of taxpayer money in its propaganda war against its employees,” said Denis Boyer, Staff Representative, Ontario Public Services Employee Union (OPSEU). “Our secondary pickets intend to inform local taxpayers about how their hard-earned money is being wasted by a remote and unconcerned provincial government.”
Until now civil servants have been picketing primary locations, administrative offices like 199 Larch St. or 159 Cedar or various other buildings throughout the area.
Additionally, contractors who look after those buildings or are hired to deliver other government services can also expect similar attention from OPSEU picketers.
“In many cases, contractors are provoking our protestors on lines throughout Sudbury by violating established protocols or by endangering them physically,” said Boyer.
